Black Friday

When most people think Black Friday they think of that woman on the Target commercials. You know the one; she works out in her heels in preparation for the big day. She is first in line at Target with her face pressed up against the glass ready for her big shopping day.

I am not that woman.

I like to give a lot at Christmas. I don't really know why, I just do. I think the feel of Christmas in the air makes me want to share my love for others and to express my love through service and giving. This year Michael and I decided to do a little extra giving. This meant spending more money. Even though Michael and I have two incomes and no children we still have a lot of debt so we don't really have that much extra. This meant I had to become a magical wife and make it so all bills were paid, we had extra for fun, and enough for Christmas presents. Answer to my problems...

BLACK FRIDAY

My sister and I looked through a lot of ads and mapped out our route. I had Michael circle the things he wanted and I made a list. We started at 4AM and our day went a little something like this:

4AM: We started at Old Navy. This store opened at midnight so the crowd was gone by the time we got there. I saved the same amount there that I spent.

5AM: We went to Sears. This store opened at 4AM so the crowd was gone by the time we got there.

6AM: We went to Bay Street Mall and started at Victoria's Secret. I wasn't really looking for anything there but my sister was so I just browsing. At 6:30 I went over to Bath and Body Works to get a couple of presents there. We also did a quick trip to Gap

7:30AM: We made our last stop Target. The main crazy person crowd was gone and it was pretty easy shopping.

All day long I only stood in line for a total of 10 minutes. I enjoyed myself. I saved $250-$300. I ended up spending 1/2 of what I was planning on spending on Christmas. I feel so good about today and I'm proud of myself.

Yay! I love Black Friday.
